Itinerary
This is a sample route. The final journey can be adjusted based on your flight dates, hotel preference, walking level, and travel style.
Day 1: Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimphu
Arrive at Paro International Airport, where your private guide will welcome you. Enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city, and settle into the peaceful rhythm of the kingdom.
Day 2: Thimphu Cultural Introduction and Mindful Reflection
Spend the day exploring Thimphu’s cultural and spiritual landmarks. Visits may include Buddha Dordenma, the National Memorial Chorten, local markets, traditional craft spaces, and heritage sites.
A reflective session or mindful pause can be included during the day, giving travellers time to connect with Bhutan’s quiet atmosphere and begin the journey with intention.
Day 3: Thimphu Heritage, Arts, and Local Traditions
Continue discovering Thimphu through cultural learning and local experiences. Depending on the final programme, the day may include traditional arts, weaving, local workshops, or a guided conversation around Bhutanese values and wellbeing.
This day is designed to encourage curiosity, observation, and a deeper appreciation of Bhutanese daily life.
Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass
Travel from Thimphu to Punakha, crossing Dochula Pass with its prayer flags, memorial chortens, and mountain views on clear days.
Continue into Punakha Valley, where warmer weather, riverside landscapes, rice fields, and traditional villages create a peaceful setting for rest and reflection.
Day 5: Punakha Valley, Temples, and Gentle Exploration
Explore Punakha’s cultural and natural beauty at a relaxed pace. Visit Punakha Dzong, nearby temples, valley viewpoints, or local villages.
The day can include gentle walking, quiet time by the river, or a reflective pause focused on balance, gratitude, and connection with place.
Day 6: Punakha to Gangtey
Journey towards Gangtey, one of Bhutan’s most peaceful valleys. The route passes through forested hills and rural landscapes before opening into the wide Phobjikha Valley.
On arrival, settle into the valley’s slower rhythm. The evening can be kept quiet, with time for rest, journaling, or simple appreciation of the surrounding landscape.
Day 7: Gangtey Mindfulness and Nature-Led Experience
Spend the day in Gangtey with a focus on nature, stillness, and local culture. Visit Gangtey Monastery, take a gentle valley walk, or explore the peaceful surroundings of Phobjikha.
This day is ideal for meditative walking, quiet reflection, photography, and experiencing Bhutan’s harmony between nature, spirituality, and community life.
Day 8: Gangtey to Bumthang
Travel towards Bumthang, Bhutan’s spiritual heartland. The journey offers changing landscapes, mountain roads, traditional settlements, and opportunities for scenic stops.
On arrival, settle into the calm atmosphere of Bumthang, a valley known for sacred temples, cultural heritage, and deep spiritual history.
Day 9: Bumthang Heritage and Living History
Explore Bumthang’s rich cultural heritage through visits to important temples, museums, heritage houses, or local cultural sites. Experiences may include tea appreciation, natural dyeing, traditional crafts, or guided learning around Bhutanese history and daily life.

Day 10: Bumthang to Paro
Begin the return journey towards Paro, depending on the final travel arrangement. On arrival, explore Paro’s cultural highlights such as the National Museum, Paro Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, or the old town area.
The evening can include a closing reflection, relaxed dinner, or preparation for the final day’s Tiger’s Nest experience.
Day 11: Tiger’s Nest Monastery and Departure or Extension
Begin the day with the hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan’s most iconic spiritual landmark. The trail passes through pine forests and mountain paths before reaching the sacred cliffside monastery above Paro Valley.
After the hike, transfer to Paro International Airport if your flight schedule allows. If needed, the journey can be extended with an additional night in Paro for a more relaxed ending.
